A long prominence suspended above the Sun's surface rotated into view this week, demonstrating the intricate pushing and pulling of magnetic forces on strands of plasma (May 13-15, 2015). The images were taken in extreme ultraviolet light. Prominences are quite unstable and often erupt. We'll watch to see how long this one holds together. Credit: Solar Dynamics Observatory, NASA.
