JHELIOVIEWER: New Sun Viewing Software Available 
New and powerful software makes available online the entire library of images from SDO and the SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory). You can use this online (http://helioviewer.org) or download the viewer and begin exploring the Sun (http://jhelioviewer.org/). The example shown is a combination of SDO's 304 and 171 wavelengths of extreme ultraviolet light, not at the highest available resolution, with some cropping and transparency adjustments, and exported from the application. It took just a few minutes to set up, adjust and export.
JHelioviewer's visualization software, developed by staff of the European Space Agency (ESA) as part of the ESA/NASA Helioviewer Project, lets everyone explore the Sun in new ways. Developed as part of the ESA/NASA Helioviewer Project, it provides a desktop program that enables users to call up images of the Sun all the way from today back to the past 15 years.
More than a million images from SOHO can be accessed, and new images from SDO are being added every day. Using this new software, you can create your own movies of the Sun, combine different wavelengths of images over selectable time periods, zoom in and out, crop frames, have features labeled, and image-process the movies in real time. You can export the finished movies in various formats, track features on the Sun by compensating for solar rotation, and more.
