Coils of Magnetic Field Lines

We zoomed in for a close-up of tight packs of coils around one active region (Nov. 18-19, 2013). The bundles of coils are actually charged particles swirling along magnetic field lines. Other field lines heading off to the left are more elongated and tapered. The images were taken in extreme ultraviolet light. Credit: Solar Dynamics Observatory.
