Over two days a fairly even string of about half a dozen small active regions rotated into view as if tied together (Feb. 18-20, 2015).ÊIn fact, the coronal loops in this movie in a wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light show that some of them are magnetically interacting with each other, so in that sense they are linked together. Active regions push out through the surface of the Sun, so they are embedded within the Sun and do not move around very much. Credit: Solar Dynamics Observatory, NASA.
